I didn’t come into insurance with a plan. I entered the industry during one of the most chaotic times of my life: two pregnancies, two car accidents and a high-pressure job in a completely different industry with a 1.5-hour one-way commute. A highly recommended broker helped my husband and I navigate our costly personal insurance and then turned around and suggested I should be a broker too.
I started from the ground up, became licensed and began in a junior role and worked my way to where I am now. I didn’t come into commercial insurance by accident. I took my time learning the back end, the client expectations, and the way the industry works. By the time I moved into sales, I already knew what mattered, and what gets missed when brokers rush in without understanding their clients’ needs.
I don’t sell on fear, pressure, or price. I sell trust. My clients usually already have insurance when they meet me (unless they’re a new startup). What my clients value is having someone who is willing to understand their business, their needs, and their concerns. They also value having someone who understands how they make a living and the difficulties they face to earn that living. I collaborate with them for the best solutions – not what is fastest or the easiest. My approach often yields to a better overall policy package, both coverage and price.
I am not transactional. I am not temporary. I am still there when the policy is in force, the market shifts, and renewals start creeping up. I am not trying to win business for a year; I am earning your trust for a long term.
